HISTORY

The 2000 Foundation was erected in 1993 by members of the International Media Club in The Netherlands. A lecture on the environment inspired some members to initiate a project, which would approach the environment in a positive way by focussing on the beauty of the Earth.

"Replace doom with hope, ugliness with beauty and worry with joy", was the assignment.

Frans H.J. van der Beek proposed the concept '1001 Reasons to Love the Earth', a series of community spots in with prominent people, who would state their love for the planet. This concept was launched at the television trade-fair MIP in Cannes, but engaged some obstacles.

He organized some startling art exhibitions in The Netherlands (subjects: Cows in Art, Queen Beatrix and Jesus) and published beautiful catalogues. Thus evaluated the a/v project into the development of the book '1001 Reasons to Love the Earth' for which Van der Beek opened an office in The Hague, selected an enthusiastic team and started to collect the art world wide with the assistance of many embassies and cultural organizations.

Together with the loyal team-members Elsbeth Deuling and Angela Veldhuyzen he managed to complete the collection and the book eventually.

Now the project has a great potential as a stepping-stone for professional artists all over the world, especially from countries which almost never get the international limelight in the world of arts. The 2000 Foundation prepares the WORLD ART CONTEST, which will be presented soon. Check this site for actual information.

The book is in great demand by art-lovers, cultural organizations, museums and companies, appreciating the book as a very special gift to their cherished business-relations.
